✦ ENDLESS HALLOWEEEN ✦

Hi!!!

This is Lydia's little blog!

I love drawing more than anything - both digital and traditional art. For digital, I use Clip Studio Paint. For traditional, I use alcohol markers, liners, colored pencils and gouache paints.

My other passion is stickers - I enjoy both collecting them and using them in my sketchbooks.
I also enjoy comic books and video games. I play mostly on my Nintendo Switch, but occasionally on my laptop too.

I encourage you to look through the tabs in the navigation for more fun stuff!!!

✦ Gekidan Inu Curry

Inu Curry is a pair of artists with a very unique artwork.
They are said to be inspired by Russian and Czech animation styles, as well as stop motion.
You may know them from their work on Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei and Puella Magi Madoka Magica, among many other anime.

Favorite Films

✦ Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

A dark comedy directed by Brian De Palma (Carrie, Scarface). It is somewhat based on the Faust legend, The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Phantom of the Opera.

" A disfigured composer sells his soul for the woman he loves so that she will perform his music, but an evil record tycoon betrays him and steals his music to open his rock palace, The Paradise. "

✦ Magnetic Rose (1995)

Magnetic Rose is a part of Memories, which is an anthology based on three short manga by Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira). Magnetic Rose is directed by Studio 4°C co-founder Kōji Morimoto and written by Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Paprika).
I believe this is one of the earliest film works of Kon?

" A freighter crew responds to a distress call from a seeminly abandoned scpace station. The station is run by an AI opera diva who manipulates life support, VR, and nanosystems, posing dangers the crew must overcome to survive. "

✦ Treasure Planet (2002)

A steam-punk science fiction retelling of The Treasure Island(by Robert Louis Stevenson). A passion project by John Musker and Ron Clements, Disney animators/filmmakers. While this movie was a huge box office failure upon its release, in the years since, Treasure Planet has gained somewhat of a cult following.

" Jim hawkins is a rebellious teen seen by the world as an aimless slacker. After he receives a map from a dying pirate, he embarks on an odyssey across the universe to find the legendary Treasure Planet. "

✦ Stalker (1979)

A film by Andrei Tarkovsky (Mirror, Solaris). It was loosely based on the book Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, however the film is extremely different from the book, the only elements that remained were the concept of "the Zone" and "stalkers". The fantastical elements of the Zone were also toned down, and the result is a more down-to-earth, slow-paced and poetic film (as would be expected from Tarkovsky).

" A guide called a 'stalker' leads two men through an area known as the Zone to find a room that grants wishes. "

✦ Re-Animator (1985) and Bride of Re-Animator (1990)

Re-Animator is loosely based on the 1922 H. P. Lovecraft's episodic novella Herbert West - Reanimator.
It was directed by Stuart Gordon and produced by Brian Yuzna. There are 3 movies in the series total: Re-Animator in 1985, Bride of re-Animator in 1990, and Beyond Re-Animator in 2003.

" After an odd new medical student Herbert West arrives on campus, fellow student Dan Cain and his fiancée Megan Halsey become involved in his morbid experiments on dead tissue.
Dan, fascinated by West's research, agrees to smuggle him into the hospital morgue with predictable results. "

✦ Saw (2004)

Saw is a horror film directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell. It was their debut film.
The film was a huge success, and went on to become a large francise, as well as influence the landscape of modern horror.
Saw's unique features are definitely its striking visual editing, as well as the iconic ending.

" Two men awaken to find themselves on the opposite sides of a dead body, each with specific instructions to kill the other, escape or face the consequences. These two are the latest contestants in Jigsaw's games. "
